despair

I started reading at 8 this morning. At 1 oclock I decided it was time to skim. At 2 I am done. If this is how all four of my classes are, I am in trouble.

*shaking from nerves*

2 Chronicles 15:7 "But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded."

ready set

I just had the most bizarre thought cross my mind a moment ago. I was reading a manga and said, "Oh if I could only have those set of problems instead of these!" How selfish and pathetic that is. It's the thorns that make the rose beautiful...hmm... that is slightly bleak... It's the rose that stems from the thorns that make it beautiful. That's better, but long.

Anyway, I had my first night. I don't know what to think of it. I'm sure my impressions will be made vocal later on as I do the reading and work. I forget that I have homework to do now. It is the farthest from my mind.... I feel so lazy, so adamantly lazy. I need to slap my brain with prestigious books. /sigh Tomorrow I shall start!

Goodbye children stories, goodbye my shallow thinking and reflections! I did enjoy your languid freedom...

I still have no intention of getting a job after this.

Again, I return to a part-time housewife; but I think I will leave my image the same =)

Okay! Tomorrow is the day for new beginnings and continuations (does that even make sense?) of things I thought I would never ever make myself do again. But instead of feeling despair, fear, and contempt (emotions I temporarily fiddled with) I have a burst of courage! And oddly enough, I almost feel a sense of comfort about going back. *Ticks list off fingers* Same teachers, buildings, classroom, even same classmates! It's almost like I am returning from a journey to a strange small "self-proclaimed intellectual" village.

Let's just hope my brain is ready for this challenge.

****We'll sit down in our thinking chair and think, think, thinnkk. Cuz when we use our minds and take a step at a time, we can do anything that we wanna do.... **** or something like that.

Praise God for his faithfulness =) Also, I want to get a book that has all the Hebrew names of God in it. Does anyone know of a good one?

Thank you to everyone who has encouraged me lately!! I love you and I really appreciate all your kind words!!

whhhyyy

I had a pretty cool dream last night, but then the "hero" turned out to be an exboyfriend??? I woke up totally confused and couldn't remember the rest of the dream. There was a hidden cave involved, a castle, and a valley with a lake. When I have dreams like this it makes me feel unfaithful. But I can't control it! Ugh.

I'm shy about this, but I want you to know.

I was listening to my radio sermons yesterday and Dr. David Jeremiah said to write down our testimony. I've never really given much thought to my testimony because there wasn't anything extraordinary about it. But that doesn't mean there isn't any worth in it. So I am going to share it with you.

I was born into a Christian family through and through. My family has lived in the faith for generations. So, from an early age I was emerged in the knowledge of Christ. I knew Jesus came as the ultimate sacrifice to save us from our sins, and that to be saved I had to believe in him and ask for his forgiveness. But even though I knew this, I never asked Jesus into my life as my savior.

In sixth grade I went through a drastic change in my personality. I think all the bullies, the frustration of my appearance, and just the awkward change of everything got to me. I started lying, stealing, and hanging out with the "dark" crowd (it was the dawn of the Goth period). I isolated myself from my family and friends and experienced intense anger and depression. For some reason during that time, I started to read the bible. I don't know what the reason was. I think I just wanted to read something, and it was the most convenient at the time. Anyway, when I read it, I was convicted with what I was doing. I felt intense guilt for the way I treated my parents, the way I treated my teachers and friends. I knew what I was doing was wrong, and I wanted to change it. I knew that I couldn't live life on my own like this, and I needed someone to save me, lift me up, and deliver me. After a few months of reading the Bible I decided I needed to ask Jesus into my heart. My life changed after that. I understood what Joy was. I was free and forgiven. I lost some of my friends, but I gained healthier ones. The frustration and depression and anger went away. I realized I didn't have to live life on my own. There was so much comfort in that thought: that I had a Father who would provide for me and protect me always and forever, spiritually and physically. Anyway, that was my turning point. I know it isn't a world shaking testimony, but maybe it helped someone. =)

***Since I am witnessing anyway, I do want to say something that has happened to me recently.

Senior year of high school through college was another low point in my life. I deserted God. I thought if I pretend that I didn't recognize him, if I ignored what he said, if I didn't think about him, He wouldn't ask me to do something I didn’t want to do. I thought that I could avoid him, so I could do what I wanted. I was a fool. I haven't gone through that much turmoil, depression, or loneliness since I was little. It breaks my heart now to think of it, how much pain I put myself through needlessly.

When I graduated I had an epiphany about my lifestyle. I think you have seen that through this blog… Anyway what I realized through that time is that God never deserted me, and he will never desert you. His arms are always open. If you seek him, he will answer you. If you ask for guidance like the amazing king David, our Heavenly Shepard will direct your feet and light your path. I know now that I don't have anything to fear, there is nothing God can't accomplish or do. It's okay to have fears: that’s normal. What is important is what you do with them. You don't have to live in fear. Think about all the Psalms that David wrote (sorry I am on a David kick right now). When he was being pursued by Saul, he wrote numerous Psalms about his fears, but he gave them all to the Lord and he knew the Lord would make the righteous triumph and God did.

I think if I could tell you anything about God I would want you to know this: You are his creation. He loves you more than anything else in the universe, that's why he sent his own son to die for you. He only has plans of good for you. He wants you to prosper and to be filled with joy, peace, love, patience, and self control. But the decision is yours. You have to choose that life, God won't force it on you. You are his beloved. All the promises he has given are ready for you to claim them. He never lies, he never does evil, he always keeps his promises. He is trustworthy and holy and a wonderful father. And he is waiting for you. All you have to do is ask.

Bernays would be proud of "our" president

My mom saw a bumper sticker with of a monkey made to look like Obama and it said "monkey see, monkey spin"

I really would like to get that bumper sticker, but I can't find it online anywhere. =(

Ah oh are you going to flag me to the white house now?

This makes me think I should really censor my blog--goodbye good o'America. I loved my rights when I had them. I'm sorry so many people died in vain for you.

A Post at Last!

I just finished reading a fantastic book by Wilkie Collins, whom I have never ever heard about before! I happened to run across his book, "The Woman in White," at the library next to the book I was originally looking for. Needless to say, this book absorbed my attentions. I don't want to say anything about it, except that you need to read it! It is a suspense book and Collins honestly held all my emotions in his hand. First I was intrigued, then I was anxious, then helpless, then again anxious, then excited, and finally I felt triumphant. I haven't had a book move me this much since the novel "1984". A word of warning, the story is 650 pages, but every page is worth it!

Now I feel that it is time to document which stories have shaped my imagination and stand out most (at this moment).

1. I will have to move The Woman in White to the top since it's fresh in my mind
2. The Three Musketeers
3. Pride and Prejudice
4. Jane Eyre
5. The Tale of Two Cities
6. 1984
7. The Lives of Christopher Chant (on a tie with Conrad's Fate)
8. Mrs. Dalloway
9. The Secret Garden
10. Moll Flanders (This is a MUST read!!! Please read it if you haven't!)
11. Caddy Woodlawn
12. Tracks by Louise Erdrich
13. I have to add this book as an after-thought: Dune. I hate the writing style; I think it's choppy and editorial. But the storyline is so amazing... If only he could have been a better editor/writer or at least had a better editor...

A good book, to me, has to have a storyline that is like a spiderweb--delicate, interlacing, and almost invisible. I don't want to know what the next page will bring; I don't want to be writing the story for myself in my mind, nor do I want the book to be filthy. I want there to be good and evil. I want good to win. I detest books that assert evil as good, villains as heroes, torture appropriate, and sex for love. These qualities are currently ruining our generation. But I won't lecture on that today. All I have to say is that there is a distinction between good and evil, no matter how hard our outside influences are trying to persuade us otherwise. Even if we try to ignore the boundaries, they are unbendable and consistent to time itself. And that is because they are based on an Ultimate Truth, which our outside influences are also trying to persuade us is ridiculous, childish, and folly. Ack, I lectured.

Last point, and random at that: Have you petitioned for the government to butt their noses out of health care yet? Do it today. http://www.freeourhealthcarenow.com/
